About the role
The Meyer Laboratory at Duke University is seeking two postdoctoral fellows to join an interdisciplinary research program focused on understanding RNA modifications, specifically m6A, and their impact on gene expression and cellular function in health and disease.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanistic studies of how m6A alters RNA:protein interactions across the transcriptome
- Define the roles of m6A and RNA-binding proteins in brain development, neural function, and neurological disease
- Develop next-generation technologies for spatial epitranscriptomics
- Discover novel m6A readers, remodelers, and regulatory mechanisms controlling gene expression in cancer
Requirements
- Hold a Ph.D. (or be nearing completion) in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, neuroscience, computational biology, or a related field
- Strong publication record and demonstrated research productivity
- Diverse scientific background welcome, especially in RNA biology and epitranscriptomics, gene regulation and functional genomics, cell and molecular biology, neuroscience or neurobiology, and bioinformatics, computational biology, and large-scale data analysis
Qualifications
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas is encouraged: RNA biology and epitranscriptomics, gene regulation and functional genomics, cell and molecular biology, neuroscience or neurobiology, bioinformatics, computational biology, and large-scale data analysis
Skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with molecular biology, neurobiology, biochemistry, and computational approaches
