About the role
This project aims to characterize the performance of new materials and methods to suppress uterine contractions leading to preterm birth. The research will advance rapidly, combining interdisciplinary approaches to address unmet medical needs in women’s health.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on advanced functional biomaterials for reproductive pharmacology.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including models of preterm birth (VUMC) and industrial partners for drug conjugate fabrication.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate material performance.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to grant writing and progress reporting.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmacology, or a related field.
- Experience with biomaterials, drug delivery systems, or reproductive biology.
- Strong laboratory skills, including cell culture, material characterization, and in vivo models.
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
Skills
- Proficiency in experimental design and data analysis.
- Experience with techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Familiarity with preclinical models of reproductive health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
