Postdoctoral Fellow - Zhang Lab
About the role
Dr. Lingbo Zhang’s Lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory focuses on both basic science and translational medicine of hematologic malignancies. The research centers on normal and malignant stem and progenitor cells in the hematopoietic system and decodes the role of metabolites, including micronutrients and neurotransmitters, in the tumor microenvironment and their genetic effectors in regulating hematologic malignancies. This fully funded postdoctoral fellowship investigates the roles of these critical metabolites and their genetic effectors in hematopoietic malignancies and aims to develop novel therapeutic strategies. The lab provides a highly dynamic and interactive research environment, offering exposure to advances across biomedical fields and interaction with researchers worldwide through its Meetings and Courses program.
Responsibilities
- Utilize CRISPR/Cas functional genomics and metabolomics, as well as optogenetics and fiber photometry approaches, to uncover critical metabolites and their genetic effectors (receptors and metabolic enzymes).
- Reveal mechanistic insights and identify key drug targets for hematologic malignancies.
- Understand how environmental signals such as diet and nervous system activity modulate blood cell development and cancers.
- Build innovative therapeutics to treat hematopoietic malignancies lacking effective options.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD in biomedical sciences.
Skills
- Strong research background in molecular and cellular biology, animal model and cancer research.
- Experience with flow cytometry and metabolomics analysis or optogenetics and fiber photometry.
