Postdoctoral Fellow - Pathology Post Doc Fellows

About the role

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and, in some cases, design new protocols
• Summarize findings and publish results in research journals
• Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory and provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers
• Conduct innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB
• Obtain and maintain all necessary federal and institutional permits required for work with select agents
• Actively support the PI in conducting experimental work, analyzing data, and assisting with report and manuscript writing for various research projects
• Perform animal studies and cell culture work
• Provide assistance to students when requested by the PI and train new laboratory members as needed
• Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and safety standards

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field
• Scientific research experience

Pay

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
