About the Role

This chemical biology and drug discovery project will involve design, synthesis, and testing of new compounds to develop novel therapeutics for treating various human diseases including cancer, as well as development of new technologies to advance the targeted protein degradation (TPD), targeted protein stabilization (TPS), and targeted protein acetylation (TPA) fields.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize molecules of interest.
• Perform analyses to confirm the identity and purity of the synthesized products.
• Test the synthesized compounds in biochemical and cellular assays.
• Analyze data and prepare reports for review with Dr. Jian Jin and other lab members.
• Document all work according to standard procedures.
• Prepare or contribute to publications and grant applications.
• Prepare and present materials at seminars and meetings.
• Comply with all safety rules.
• Maintain the lab equipment related to the research.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Experience in synthesis of small molecules using parallel, multistep synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
• Experience in small molecule purification via chromatography techniques such as flash column chromatography and liquid chromatography.
• Experience in characterization of small molecules via NMR and LCMS.
• Experience in testing compounds in biochemical and cellular assays.

Goals and Outcomes

Successful outcome of the project would be discovery of novel compounds as chemical biology tools and/or preclinical drug candidates to study and/or treat human diseases such as cancer, and publication of research results to advance relevant research fields.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $72,500 - $80,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need.
