About the role

The Radiology AI & Informatics Group is seeking a Postdoctoral Physician-Scientist Research Fellow in the Department of Diagnostic, Molecular, and Interventional Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This position will focus on multimodal AI for prostate cancer imaging, contributing to federally funded and institutionally supported research programs that develop and validate AI-driven tools to improve prostate cancer detection, characterization, and treatment guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Curate and quality-control multimodal imaging and clinical datasets from PACS and the EHR.
  • Define study cohorts through chart review and clinical phenotyping, linking imaging to reference standards such as biopsy and whole-mount pathology.
  • Develop annotation protocols/pipelines and establish ground truth.
  • Design clinical validation and reader studies with appropriate endpoints and analysis plans.
  • Coordinate and manage radiology fellows and attending radiologists in multi-reader studies.
  • Analyze diagnostic-performance results and lead manuscripts, abstracts, and grant applications.

The Clinically Trained Physician-Scientist Research Fellow will serve as the clinical anchor of the AI research team, working alongside computer scientists, engineers, biostatisticians, and radiologists to ensure datasets, models, and validation studies are clinically meaningful and positioned for real-world impact.

Qualifications

  • MD or MD/PhD.
  • Strong interest in medical AI and translational research.
  • Excellent skills at the interface of clinical and technical teams.
  • Radiology training, familiarity with prostate mpMRI and PI-RADS, and clinical-research methodology experience are preferred (programming is a plus but not required).
