Postdoctoral Fellow - Leukemia - Research

Join the Department of Leukemia Research in the laboratory of Dr. Guillermo Garcia-Manero, MD, focusing on defining the role of telomere dysfunction in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes and aging-related diseases.

About the role

Our experimental systems include both genetic mouse models and primary leukemia stem and progenitor cells from MDS patients. The postdoctoral fellow will learn various components and areas of translational research, including planning, designing, and conducting research; analyzing data; and presenting findings in meetings, conferences, or published form.

The candidate will develop the ability to perform experiments and drive projects independently while working closely with the PI and other lab members as a team. Responsibilities include writing and submitting manuscripts, fellowship and grant applications, and publishing high-profile papers.

A strong work ethic, collaborative attitude, and willingness to contribute to a supportive and productive laboratory environment are essential. All duties are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Learning Objectives

• Develop skills and competencies in applying cutting-edge research technology to the study of hematopoietic stem cell biology, erythropoiesis, and leukemogenesis.
• Acquire the necessary skills to conduct correlative studies of clinical trials and translate laboratory findings into clinical applications.

Requirements

• PhD or MD in a related research field.
• Strong background in molecular biology, flow cytometry, and multiomic technologies.
• Experience in hematopoietic stem cells and animal models is essential.

Pay

Salary ranges from $64,000 to $76,000, depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
