Postdoctoral Fellow - Immunology

About the Role

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Zhibin Zhang's laboratory in the Department of Immunology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The lab focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of pyroptosis in tumor cells and developing novel pyroptosis-based therapeutic strategies to enhance antitumor immunity and improve cancer treatment. This position will investigate the role of pyroptosis in tumor immunology using biochemical, molecular, cellular, mouse genetic, and systems biology approaches.

Learning Objectives

The postdoctoral fellow will learn to investigate how cell death signaling pathways regulate the functions of tumor-infiltrating immune cells, leading to tumor suppression and enhanced antitumor immune responses.

Responsibilities

• Investigate the activation and regulation of gasdermin proteins, the executioners of pyroptosis, in the context of tumor-immune interactions.
• Conduct research in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure as defined by Texas Business and Commerce Code (may require routine reviews and screening).

Requirements

• Recent Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a related biomedical field (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, tumor biology).
• Strong self-motivation and a passion for research.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mouse tumor models and tumor immunology.
• Background in biochemistry and protein purification.

Pay

Full-time postdoc positions offer a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000, depending on years of postgraduate experience.
