About the role
The Agoro lab at the Jackson Laboratory for Mammalian Genetics is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to identify mechanisms that trigger sickle cell disease crisis. The goal of the laboratory is to determine the mechanisms of disease severity heterogeneity using systems biology. We use a multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetics, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to isolate systemic and tissue-specific markers of disease progression.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other laboratories within the JAX community and with external collaborators who are translational scientists and clinicians. As a postdoctoral scientist in our lab, you will pioneer the development of new mouse models that recapitulate disease phenotypic heterogeneity as seen in patients. You will work with data generated from sickle cell disease patients and apply a broad range of cutting-edge technologies, including CRISPR-based tools, single-cell multi-omics, and create new disease mouse models that better recapitulate disease phenotype.
Responsibilities
- Develop new mouse models that recapitulate disease phenotypic heterogeneity as seen in patients.
- Work with data generated from sickle cell disease patients.
- Apply cutting-edge technologies, including CRISPR-based tools and single-cell multi-omics.
- Collaborate with other laboratories within the JAX community and external translational scientists and clinicians.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related field of study.
- Strong training background in molecular biology, cell biology, and next-generation sequencing technology.
- Experience in computational biology, genetic screens, and single-cell technologies is particularly preferred.
- At least one first-author publication record in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and effectively with other members in a productive team.
