The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment in the quantum information groups of Prof. Sophia Economou and Prof. Edwin Barnes at Virginia Tech. There will be ample opportunities for collaboration with other members of the group and with some of the leading experimental and theory groups around the world.
About the role
- Conduct research in quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum networks, and quantum control.
- Test theoretical results on cloud quantum processors.
- Disseminate results in journal publications and conference presentations.
- Senior Research Associates may also mentor junior group members and assist with grant management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in quantum information science.
- Collaborate with other members of the group and with leading experimental and theory groups.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at conferences.
- Mentor junior group members and assist with grant management (for Senior Research Associates).
Requirements
- PhD in Quantum Information Science, Theoretical Condensed Matter, AMO Physics, or a closely related field.
- PhD awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- A strong background in Quantum Mechanics and programming skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of concepts and techniques from Quantum Information Science.
- Experience with Python and Mathematica.
Qualifications
- Postdoctoral associate applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the specified fields.
- Senior research associate applicants must have prior postdoctoral experience.
