About the role
The researcher will conduct experiments and provide technical expertise in the Rutgers CryoEM & Nanoimaging Facility (RCNF). The RCNF serves as a university-wide resource for the imaging and three-dimensional reconstruction of cells and biomolecules. As a member in the RCNF team reporting to the director, the researcher will interface with a variety of laboratories (intramural, extramural academic, and industrial) to apply cryoelectron microscopy (cryoEM) techniques to fundamental questions in biology being investigated by these laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Train and mentor students, fellows, and other scientists in cryo-electron microscopy.
- Perform and document cutting-edge cryoEM experiments independently.
- Experiments include: cryo-transmission electron microscopy and tomography, cryo-focused ion beam milling, correlative microscopy, vitrification, cryo-scanning electron microscopy, and classical electron microscopy including thin section TEM.
