About the role
We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Psychology at Binghamton University (SUNY) to work in the Early NeuroCognitive Development (ENCoDe) research team. The postdoctoral scholar will collaborate with the principal investigator on ongoing NIH-funded studies and piloting for future research projects, focusing on tracking the early development of the social brain and social perception in infancy.
This is a full-time, in-person position for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance and funding availability. The ideal start date is August 2026, but an earlier or later start date can be negotiated.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment and data collection (e.g., EEG and MRI).
- Play an important role in data analyses, manuscript development, and data dissemination (e.g., conference presentations).
- Contribute to grant writing.
- Participate in in-lab experimental EEG and MRI studies and apply advanced EEG analysis methods.
- Work on existing projects and datasets, then develop and launch an independent program of research.
- Work on a flexible schedule to meet the needs of participating families.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in a field related to developmental cognitive neuroscience by the appointment date.
- Research experience in developmental psychology or developmental cognitive neuroscience with children or younger participants (experience does not need to be consecutive or paid).
- Knowledge and skills in neurophysiological and/or neuroimaging methods.
- Programming experience (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python).
- Skills in relevant statistical analyses.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Organizational and project management skills.
Qualifications
- First-author, peer-reviewed publications involving electrophysiological or neuroimaging research (preferred).
- Experience or substantial interest in social perception, early neurodevelopment, and neuroimaging and/or electrophysiological recording methods.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants needing current or future sponsorship to maintain employment authorization do not meet eligibility requirements.
Pay
$60,000 - $64,000 (full-time, temporary, one-year appointment).
