About the role

Sanford Burnham Prebys is a vibrant global community of scientists from over 30 countries, dedicated to advancing biomedical sciences and cultivating the next generation of scientific leaders. The Feng Laboratory focuses on uncovering the structural and functional mechanisms of disease-related membrane proteins and protein complexes, with emphasis on endogenous ion channels. This fully funded postdoctoral fellow position involves using cutting‑edge cryo‑electron microscopy (cryo‑EM) and biochemical/biophysical approaches to determine high‑resolution structures and elucidate structure–function relationships. The role is onsite in San Diego; out‑of‑state applicants must be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and ability to learn to advance projects
• Generate hypotheses, design experiments, interpret data, trouble shoot and optimize experiments
• Be able to analyze and interpret data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
• Be able to present results at internal and external meetings
• Accurately document experiments
• Contribute to the writing of reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility over time
• Work collaboratively across lab functions and train other junior lab staff as needed

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology
