About the role
The Dr. Chanda lab at Scripps Research is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral candidate with expertise in neuroscience and/or immunology. The position focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms of aberrant innate immune responses in neurodegeneration using systems biology approaches.
Responsibilities
- Utilize CRISPR/RNAi, proteomics/chemoproteomics, chemical biology, NextGen Sequencing, and fundamental immunology techniques to investigate neurodegenerative diseases.
- Collaborate with pharmaceutical partners to translate research findings into clinical applications.
- Contribute to the preparation of grant applications and manuscript writing.
- Assist in additional projects within the lab.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in biological science, preferably in neuroinflammation or innate immunity.
- Strong background in signaling pathways.
- Expertise in cellular/molecular biology techniques, including cell/tissue culture, isolation and manipulation of primary cells (neuronal and microglial culture systems are a plus).
- Demonstrated productivity with a strong publication record in high-quality journals.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Compensation
Postdoctoral Associates will be hired following the National Institute of Health and California's exempt salary guidelines, with a starting range of $70,304-$75,353. Comprehensive benefits include retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and access to counseling services.
