Postdoctoral Associate - Cardiac Surgery

About the role

The center for cardiac engineering and regenerative medicine in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate to support with research projects in the field of cardiomyocyte biology and cardiac regeneration.

Responsibilities

• Supports with research projects in the field of cardiomyocyte biology and cardiac regeneration.
• Designs, executes, and controls laboratory research studies under the direction of the principal investigator.
• Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
• Evaluates and analyzes data.
• Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
• Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
• Works and responsible for laboratory operations.
• Supervises research staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. No experience required.

Preferred qualifications

• PhD level of wet laboratory experience preferably in cardiac physiology.
• Strong background in molecular biology, histological analysis and cardiac surgery in animal models is desired.
• Experience in cardiac physiology is a plus.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills is desired.
