Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and perform experimental studies and data analysis
• Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate, post-doctoral fellows, and laboratory staff under the direction of the PI
• Publish, report, grant, and presentation preparation

Requirements

This post-doctoral position will work in the Joyner lab to understand the biology of relapsing malaria parasites with the long-term goal of developing new therapies and identifying new therapeutic targets. The individual will oversee project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and training and mentoring of laboratory staff.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent degree with experience in related fields
• Experience with malaria parasite culture and isolation, genetic manipulation, next-generation sequencing, liver stage culture, PCR, and cloning
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Learn and design new experimental approaches
• Solve technical problems efficiently and independently
• Train and mentor laboratory staff

Benefits

The position is grant-funded and continuation is not guaranteed. The individual will have an active role in training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, as well as other members in the Joyner laboratory.
