Postdoc in nasal epithelial physiology and chronic rhinosinusitis

About the role

The postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Rob Lee at the University of Pennsylvania. The lab is part of the Division of Rhinology in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and is affiliated with the Department of Physiology. For more information about the lab's research and recent publications, visit www.robleelab.com. The primary disease interests are chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and cystic fibrosis.

Responsibilities

• Model CRS using mouse nasal epithelial cells both in vitro and in vivo
• Study the role of bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) in CRS
• Work closely with the PI and other lab members
• Receive training in live-cell imaging and other techniques as needed
• Develop or learn new techniques as required by the project
• Participate in professional development opportunities such as grant writing, review writing, collaborations, and conferences

Requirements

• PhD in a biological science (cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, physiology, etc.) with successful completion of thesis project
• Experience in cell culture, biochemistry, imaging, and/or in vivo mouse studies is highly desirable, but not required
• Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and good interpersonal skills are essential

• Interest in mucosal immunity and innate defense mechanisms
