About the role

The Lung Epithelial Biology Laboratory at the Penn Lung Biology Institute (LBI), under the direction of Dr. Michael Beers, seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a collaborative research project focusing on the molecular mechanisms that regulate tissue injury and repair in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and other parenchymal lung diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Focus the project in any of several related areas (epithelial biology, immunological networks, metabolomics, epithelial-mesenchymal crosstalk, and/or transcriptomics/proteomics)
  • Utilize 2 novel published models of lung injury and fibrosis (see references provided)
  • Access a variety of cutting-edge technologies including RNAseq, single cell and ATAC RNAseq, high resolution proteomics, CRISPR mediated screens, lineage tracing, organoid assays, and iPS cells
  • Identify pathways critical for lung tissue repair and regeneration

Requirements

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related Biomedical Fields
  • Solid background in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and cell biology
  • Hands-on experience with animal models, mammalian tissue culture, molecular biology techniques and tissue imaging procedures
  • Excellent record of publications in highly respected international scientific journals
  • Familiarity with advanced imaging techniques, transcriptomic profiling, flow cytometry, and/or bioinformatics

Qualifications
