About the role
The Post-Harvest Technician assists managers in the day-to-day functions of packaging, trimming, harvesting, and storing finished products. This detail-oriented, operational role plays a critical part in quality control, ensuring sanitary and organized inventory while reducing mislabeling risks. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and a self-starter, with the ability to follow checklists, logs, and standard operating procedures.
This position reports to the Cultivation Manager and does not require prior cannabis cultivation experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental checks and ongoing observation of post-harvest areas
- Assist with harvesting, trimming, sorting, and packaging of cannabis products
- Utilize checklists, logs, process flow charts, and standard operating procedures
- Maintain clean and sanitary workspaces, including cure areas and break rooms
- Monitor and protect finished product from waste or loss
- Facilitate accurate inventory control at all stages
- Communicate effectively with post-harvest and other departments
- Update personal information for contact, payment, benefits, or tax purposes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must pass state-specific background check requirements
- Age requirements: 21+ (MA, OH), 18+ (PA)
- Valid driver’s license or state ID; authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to perform essential job functions for 8–10 hours per day, including:
- Sitting, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and reaching
- Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and repetitive motions
- Lifting and carrying up to 55 pounds over distances of up to 100 feet
- Willingness to work in environments with cannabis odors, airborne particles, fertilizers, high humidity, and varied lighting/temperature conditions (e.g., cultivation rooms, post-harvest facilities, retail dispensaries)
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of cannabis growing, trimming, or industry experience preferred (not required)
- Certification or education in agricultural, horticultural, or botanical practices a plus
- Experience with inventory software, Excel, or Google spreadsheets
- Education in agriculture, horticulture, or botany preferred but not necessary
Pay
This non-exempt position is eligible for overtime pay, with an hourly range of $16.00–$17.50.
