Post Doctoral Scholar - Surgery

About the role

Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Departments of Surgery and Medicine. Plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the areas of adipocyte biology, inflammation and immunometabolism.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and institutions.
• Identifies and selects problems to be studied.
• Develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols.
• Attends research seminars.
• Contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing.
• Participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• PhD with wet laboratory experience and an interest in protocol development and experimental design.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in immunology and flow cytometry is preferred.
• Experience handling mice and knowledge of metabolism, including an interest in obesity research, are also desirable.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
