Post Doctoral Scholar - Surgery

About the role

The Wu Laboratory in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an NIH-funded Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on topics such as sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac remodeling, BBB dysfunction in aging, vascular biology, and metabolic disorders.
• Utilize genetically engineered mouse models, MI and sepsis (CLP/LPS) models, aging and metabolic disease models, and molecular, cellular, imaging, and translational techniques.
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at national and international scientific meetings.
• Contribute to NIH grant applications.

Requirements

• PhD, MD/PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in cardiovascular biology, molecular biology, immunology, physiology, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
• Strong publication record and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates post PhD degree (within two years of completing their PhD) are especially encouraged to apply.
• Research experience in cardiovascular biology, vascular biology, inflammation, metabolism, aging, neuroscience, or related fields.
• Experience with rodent research, mouse surgical models (e.g., MI or CLP), echocardiography, or cardiovascular phenotyping is preferred but not required.

Skills

• Strong research skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Schedule
