About the role
The Makowski Lab in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics at Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate the mechanisms by which obesity, metabolism, microbiome, and the immune system regulate cancer progression and therapeutic response.
Responsibilities
- Expert in cancer cell biology and tumor microenvironment, with experience in immunology and murine models
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Contribute to multidisciplinary research focused on tumor immunology, immunometabolism, host–microbiome interactions, and translational cancer biology using cutting-edge metabolite, molecular, cellular, in vitro and in vivo approaches
Requirements
- Ph.D. in basic Biology, Cancer Biology, Zoology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience with murine obesity models, immunology, and molecular biology techniques
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary research team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations
Qualifications
- Research experience in cancer biology, tumor immunology, immunometabolism, obesity-related cancer, metabolism, cardiovascular, microbiome research, or the tumor microenvironment
- Experience with syngeneic or genetically engineered mouse models, flow cytometry, histology, immunohistochemistry, and advanced molecular biology techniques
- Experience with metabolomics, lipidomics, or microbiome analyses is highly desirable
- Experience with computational analysis of -omics datasets is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience in cancer biology, tumor immunology, immunometabolism, obesity-related cancer, metabolism, cardiovascular, microbiome research, or the tumor microenvironment
- Experience with syngeneic or genetically engineered mouse models, flow cytometry, histology, immunohistochemistry, and advanced molecular biology techniques
