Post-doctoral position in biological chemistry
As part of the Interdisciplinary and Exploratory Research project (RIE) « GlycoMechano – Crosslinking of glycans to modulate the mechanical properties of the brain », we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral fellow to focus on biological chemistry for the synthesis and imaging of non-natural sugars.
About the role
The aim of the project is to develop molecular tools capable of modulating the rigidity of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of a neuronal tissue in order to study the effect of a rigidification of the synaptic environment on plasticity. Your mission will be to develop molecular tools and the cell labelling strategy from organic sugar synthesis to their visualisation by fluorescence microscopy at various levels of resolution, including their validation in different cellular models.
You will be working within two laboratories: the Molecular Photonics, Chemobiology and Imaging (PMCI) group and the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) under the joint supervision of Frédéric Friscourt (Chemobiology) and Morgane Rosendale (Neuroscience).
Responsibilities
- Develop molecular tools for glycan chemistry and cell labelling
- Synthesize non-natural sugars
- Implement imaging strategies using fluorescence microscopy
- Validate tools in various cellular models
Skills
- Organic synthesis (primarily glycan chemistry)
- Cell culture techniques
- Microscopy (fluorescence imaging at multiple resolutions)
Deadline: 16/02/2026
Starting date: April 2026
