Post-Doctoral Associate in Chemistry
M2QM is an Energy Frontier Research Center funded by the US Department of Energy at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florida, under the supervision of Professor George Christou. The Center's programs range from the synthesis and characterization of emergent new materials to a systematic computational understanding of their many-body quantum behavior.
About the role
The fundamental science of the M2QM aims to address two primary technological challenges:
- How to create qubits for intrinsically quantum computing
- How to replace elements of traditional computers and sensors with intrinsically quantum, molecule-based devices that are energy efficient as well as fast and adaptive
The successful candidate will work on:
- Synthesis of ultra-small (1-3 nm) metal oxide nanoparticles as molecular clusters
- Characterization by various spectroscopic and physical techniques including single-crystal X-ray crystallography
- Use of these materials as supports for one or more magnetic ions and molecules to study quantum properties on a model surface, including coherence times, quantum clock transitions, and exchange couplings
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry
Qualifications
- Experience in synthetic inorganic chemistry and high nuclearity coordination clusters is essential
