About the role

This position is a two-year dual-focused research and clinical fellowship. It includes involvement in Department of Defense funded clinical research investigating MDMA assisted massed exposure therapy for PTSD, and funded research investigating psilocybin support for PTSD as well as psilocybin assisted massed exposure therapy for PTSD. Fellows will also participate in the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program (EHVP), where they will receive advanced clinical training to serve the mental health needs of military and veteran populations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator.
  • Develop new ideas that promote current research.
  • Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff.
  • Assist in the operation of specific equipment.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.
  • Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Prior to the start of fellowship, applicants must have satisfactorily completed all requirements of a PhD/PsyD in Clinical Psychology or closely related field, including an APA accredited predoctoral psychology internship.
  • Training and experience with evidence-based therapy.
  • Experience in the treatment of PTSD and associated comorbidities; cognitive-behavioral therapy; exposure therapy; structured-clinical interviews (e.g., CAPS-5, DIAMOND); and clinical research is valued.
  • Experience or interest in brain imaging collection, processing, and analysis would be desired but not required for a successful candidate.

Skills

  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills.

  • Experience with evidence-based therapy and PTSD treatment.
  • Interest in brain imaging and analysis.

Benefits

The stipend is currently $62,232 and will be updated in line with any changes to the NIH postdoctoral fellow stipend levels. The Atlanta metropolitan area offers a diverse population of more than five million residents, with numerous museums, art galleries, and cultural landmarks, as well as thriving music, film, and sports scenes.

Pay

$62,232 annually

Schedule

Full-time, in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
