About the role

The Post-Doctoral Fellow position is ideal for an experienced researcher past the post-doctoral stage of their career who is eager to contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research and academic excellence. The research will focus on projects studying sepsis, inflammation, and organ injury in large animal models. The Instructor will have autonomy in directing experiments and will have the opportunity to complete independent research projects and apply for appropriate intramural and extramural funding opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform animal experiments.
  • Design experiments and analyze data pertaining to agreed-upon research studies.
  • Write research papers for publication and grant applications for funding.
  • Mentor graduate students and technicians.
  • Oversee laboratory organization.
  • Train and manage research associates, residents, and students engaging in basic and translational research.
  • Provide critical data that results in publications and grant awards that benefit the department and the university.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. required.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to independently design and successfully carry out experiments in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience working in a team setting, interacting with other team members, and engaging trainees in experiments.
  • Ability to record data and report clearly on study findings.
