Responsibilities
Background and Description of Research Project: Diabetic kidney disease is a major cause of kidney failure worldwide. Our research focuses on identifying new drug targets to treat this disease using systems biology approaches. Recent findings have identified TENM3 as a key molecule involved in kidney podocyte injury.
- Perform in vitro cell cultures of kidney podocytes and assess the effects of overexpression or knockdown of TENM3 on cell function and downstream signaling pathways.
- Utilize transgenic mouse models with overexpression or knockdown of TENM3 in podocytes to investigate their susceptibility to kidney injury.
- Conduct experiments using techniques such as cell culture, western blot, qPCR, genotyping, mouse breeding, kidney histology analysis, immunostaining, and measurement of urinary albumin and renal function.
Qualifications
- Medical training (MD equivalent) or basic science training with expertise in kidney disease pathogenesis (Nephrology).
- Experience in medical research and proficiency in performing benchwork and animal studies.
