About the role

Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge in area of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills.

Responsibilities

• Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
• May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
• Leads efforts in supporting the Atmospheric Science and Chemistry Measurement Network (ASCENT) site at the University of Houston.
• Leads instrument operations including hands-on activities such as QA/QC checks and maintenance.
• Data processing, analysis, and leading publications.
• Leads the instrument operations including hands-on activities such as QA/QC checks and maintenance as well as data processing, analysis, and leading publications.

Requirements

• PhD in atmospheric science, atmospheric chemistry, chemistry, physics, engineering, or related fields.
• Well versed in the operation of aerosol instrumentation, subsequent data handling, and have a strong background in aerosol science.
• Experience with Aerosol Mass Spectrometers and/or Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitors is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

The position is funded solely by grant funding for at least 12 months, and extension is contingent upon additional grant funding.

Skills

• Singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
