Post-Doctoral Associate - Terns

Duties/Responsibilities

• Designing and conducting experiments to identify and characterize anti-CRISPR proteins from viruses;
• To identify and characterize new viruses and plasmids from hyperthermophilic archaea;
• To understand detailed molecular mechanisms of prokaryote-viral defense/counter-defense interactions.

Percentage of Time

• Designing and conducting experiments: 60%
• Maintenance of phage and bacteria stocks: 10%
• Preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations: 10%
• Supervision of student members: 10%
• Other duties as assigned: 10%

• Minimum Qualifications: PhD degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
• Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification: PhD level competence to conduct independent research; to include knowledge of literature, and abilities in hypothesis generation, experimental design, conducting experiments, drawing conclusions, writing reports and manuscripts, delivering oral presentations.
