About the role
The Post-Doctoral Associate - SUN position in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia conducts cutting-edge research on the molecular biology and genetics of plant RNA viruses. Current research focuses on understanding host responses to vascular invading viruses.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and execute research projects under the guidance of the lab lead.
- Communicate regularly with the PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the project.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Prepare and publish manuscripts in leading scientific journals.
- Contribute to daily lab management and maintenance tasks.
- Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with citrus, cotton, or plant RNA viruses.
- Background in bioinformatics.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant field.

- Knowledge of molecular biology and genetics of plant RNA viruses.
