About the role

The Shi lab at Rutgers University in New Brunswick is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct cutting-edge research in the field of biophysical chemistry and cell biology. We are currently offering two exciting research topics:

  • Investigating the material properties of biomolecular condensates in mammalian cells.
  • Studying the activation and subcellular distribution of mechanosensitive membrane proteins.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of researchers in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology. They will be expected to:

  • Conduct independent research on one of the two offered projects.
  • Collaborate with other lab members and external collaborators.
  • Present findings at lab meetings and conferences.
  • Write up research results for publication in high-impact journals.

Requirements

We encourage applicants with a strong background in biophysics, mechanical or biomedical engineering, material science, biochemistry, or a related field to apply. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree and a record of academic excellence. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

  • Programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
