Job Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on a research project that directly relates to their artistic practice. The project aims to develop musical structures that translate recent insights in ecological thinking into contemporary classical music practice. This project links with natural habitats and thinkers from the global south, offering a unique opportunity.

Project Details

The project integrates experiences from the community into performances through a specially developed instrumental ensemble, the Poliarmonica, which combines accordion, live-electronics, and field recordings.

Team and Environment

The researcher will be part of a dynamic research community at the conservatory, particularly within the Collective Creation research group. The position involves conducting research but may also include limited research support or teaching tasks.

Research Outputs

The researcher is expected to share project results through relevant internal and external channels and contribute to grant applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in the Arts, Music.
• PhD in the Arts, Music. For non-Netherlands, Luxembourg, or Baltic States diplomas, provide a recognition certificate from NARIC.
• Awarded the conditions of Article V 106 and V 107 of the Higher Education Code and current language legislation.
• Excellent IT skills are essential for working both remotely and on campus.
• Fluency in Dutch is required, with additional proficiency in French, English, or another language being a significant advantage.
• Experience with the research theme is desirable.

Qualifications

• Relevant expertise as a researcher.
• Research competencies demonstrated through a portfolio and/or relevant research output.
• A compelling project proposal, including scientific/artistic quality, project planning, implementation, and research methodology.
• Collaboration with external partners is advantageous.
• External funding acquisition is advantageous.
• Experience with the research theme is desirable.
