Job Summary
Possitive Support Specialists (PSS) work in our Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs. These programs serve individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs. Our approach focuses on supporting individuals to reach their goals while ensuring safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in performing essential life skills such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and navigating the community.
- Advocate for individuals in areas like rights, medical care, and community participation.
- Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping every shift.
- Manage crisis situations safely and effectively, including potential use of manual restraints.
- Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
- Physical ability to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.
- Cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma is minimum education, but a degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with people with complex needs, with 3-5 years of relevant experience being preferred.
