Position Details: Custodian

About the role

Performs daily custodial and maintenance operations in County buildings.

Organizational relationships

• Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Director
• This is a non-supervisory position
• Has contact with the general public, co-workers, other County employees, and officials

Responsibilities

• Clean offices and public areas including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and disposing of trash
• Clean bathrooms using commercial chemicals
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs
• Perform light building maintenance and woodworking tasks at County facilities as directed
• Strip and wax floors as directed
• Clean windows and fixtures as directed
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be able to safely move 60 lbs
• Must be able to safely operate custodial power equipment
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally, including giving and receiving instructions
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
• Must be able to read, understand and perform mathematical calculations to safely operate equipment and use cleaning chemicals
• Must be able to properly use hand tools, power tools and other specialized equipment
• Must be punctual and dependable for work shift assigned

Qualifications

• Maintain valid Class C Texas driver's license and good driving record
