POS Field Tech
This is a 2-month contract position with a start date of August 30, 2026. W2 only, no Corp to Corp.
About the Role
We are seeking a Field Technician to provide onsite technical support across multiple business locations within an assigned territory. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality end-user support, resolving technical issues, installing and maintaining IT equipment, and ensuring a positive customer experience through responsive and professional service.
The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience supporting a wide range of hardware, software, and networking technologies in a field-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide onsite technical support and resolve technical issues.
- Install and maintain IT equipment, including POS systems and plug-and-play devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware (PCs, laptops, printers, tablets, mobile devices, servers).
- Work independently while collaborating across teams to manage and complete tasks.
- Use ticketing systems to document, track, and manage installs and service requests.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge management practices.
- Escalate issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.
- Manage checklists, documentation, and customer expectations according to SLA requirements.
- Check in, deliver pictures, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide status updates and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers.
Requirements
- Experience with POS (Point of Sale) systems and retail store environments.
- Basic to intermediate technical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for helping users.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable personal vehicle for daily travel up to 50 miles between customer locations.
- Must provide your own basic tools, including:
- Drill with a 3/32" drill bit
- Phillips, T20, and T25 screwdrivers
- Putty knife
- Wire cutters
- Cut-resistant gloves
- Cleaning wipes or paper towels/cloths
- Paper clips and Velcro straps
- Travel time between job sites is paid; deduct normal commute (15 minutes each way) and unpaid lunch break when submitting time.

Pay
The rate for this position is between $24.00 - $32.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
