Portfolio Value Manager

About the role

The Portfolio Value Manager oversees and drives the successful execution and delivery of a portfolio of initiatives and investments aligned to the organization’s strategy and goals. This role serves as a critical connector across strategy, intake, discovery, prioritization and execution, enabling disciplined value‑based decision making and end‑to‑end portfolio transparency. It ensures initiatives are clearly defined, prioritized based on value and effort, and governed through structured portfolio management processes that deliver measurable outcomes and value realization. The manager supports executive decision‑making through data‑driven insights, portfolio reporting, and strategic recommendations while advancing best practices and processes for effective portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee portfolio operations for business portfolio, including large complex projects identified as strategic, from inception through implementation.
• Coordinate adjustments to the portfolio as necessary when demands require changes in delivery and/or scope of work.
• Prepare initiatives for governance forums by coordinating inputs, ensuring completeness, and communicating status.
• Support executive decision‑making through structured analysis, portfolio insights, and recommendations.
• Partner with sponsors to refine problem statements and ensure readiness for governance discussions.
• Partner with the Analytics team to quantify, track, and validate value realization for strategic initiatives and targeted business outcomes.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and identify dependencies, risks, issues, and conflicts.
• Monitor and report portfolio status and progress toward initiative execution, including milestones and metrics, to key stakeholders and executive management.
• Identify, escalate, and resolve issues associated with business portfolio initiatives and projects, ensuring deliverables conform to established quality and schedules.
• Review project‑level reports and facilitate meetings with project teams to discuss and resolve issues.
• Manage project data and conduct analysis across the strategic portfolio to identify and report potential risks, provide input into sequencing and prioritization, and highlight resource constraints.
• Collaborate and consult with stakeholders on recommendations and insights derived from fact‑based data and metrics to influence strategic plans, enterprise direction, measurement, accountability, business practices, and deliverables.
• Build and maintain relationships with lines of business, team members, management, key stakeholders, and external contacts such as vendors.
• Develop and deliver portfolio reporting (monthly, quarterly) to provide transparency into performance and value realization.
• Analyze portfolio data to generate actionable insights and inform leadership decisions.
• Maintain data integrity across portfolio tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.

Requirements

• US Citizen, Green Card holder, or authorized to work in the United States.
• Hybrid work arrangement in Vienna, VA.

Compensation

$60‑$69 per hour.
