Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data to determine merits of loan requests, recommend structure, and identify cross-selling/referring opportunities.
- Negotiate, structure, and underwrite commercial loans, including bilateral, club, and syndicated facilities.
- Support the internal Credit Approval Process and present transactions to Senior Management and loan committees.
- Cultivate and maintain an effective working relationship with Internal (originations, legal, accounting, compliance, operations, senior management) and External clients (borrowers, external counsel, specialized consultants, regulators).
- Ongoing management of loans in the portfolio to ensure credit quality and risks are accurately assessed.
- Monitor portfolio trends, covenant compliance, and sector-specific risks, proactively recommending action to mitigate exposure.
- Partner with team in reviewing and negotiating loan documents and engaging counsel as needed.
- As appropriate with experience, assist in the development of loan officers and credit analysts.
- Ensure conformance with bank's credit policies, product guidelines, and banking regulations including those related to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and USA Patriot Act, CRA, Privacy, and Security.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting/finance or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in banking with direct portfolio management and underwriting experience.
- Strong decision-making, interpersonal, and communication skills; including the ability to clearly understand complex concepts.
- Understand, structure, and negotiate corporate type loans that includes leverage loans, asset-based finance, and borrowing-based deals for bi-lateral, participation, and large syndication loans.
- Demonstrates strong underwriting and projection skills.
- Knowledge of credit underwriting, accounting, and loan documentation.
- Has strong understanding of credit policy and procedures and is able to accurately risk-rate loans/credits, evaluate both cash-flow and collateral-based loans/credits.
- Excellent organizational, time-management skills and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to work effectively with little supervision.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to respond effectively to customer complaints or other sensitive inquiries.
- Thorough knowledge of banking regulations and laws; compliance documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to employees, management, or loan committee.
- Excellent analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.
Pay
The salary range for this full-time position is $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Salary ranges are determined based on qualifications, level, and location. Exact compensation may vary based on your skills and experience.
