About the role

The Portfolio Intelligence & Execution Lead role at USAA is a strategic leadership position within the Transformation & Ventures portfolio. This role combines portfolio strategy execution, intelligence, and tooling ownership, cross-functional coordination, and executive communications. The ideal candidate will lead the implementation of strategic tasks that align programs with an organization's business strategy and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously evolve the portfolio intelligence ecosystem, including dashboards, reporting frameworks, portfolio metrics, and executive visibility solutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated portfolio reporting capabilities that provide real-time insight into investment health, delivery progress, dependencies, risks, and outcomes.
  • Establish portfolio data standards and governance practices that support informed decision-making across executives, portfolio leaders, and delivery teams.
  • Serve as the product owner for portfolio management tools, workflows, and operational capabilities that improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and management tools that clearly communicate portfolio health and execution performance.
  • Lead identification, development, and implementation of automation and AI-enabled capabilities that improve portfolio operations and decision-making.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to deploy AI-powered solutions that support reporting, dependency management, risk identification, planning, and investment analysis.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and agentic AI capabilities to determine opportunities for operational efficiency and business value creation.
  • Serve as a champion for practical AI adoption and innovative ways of working across the portfolio organization.
  • Support development of executive-ready portfolio insights, presentations, and summaries that support leadership decision-making and portfolio governance.
  • Translate complex delivery, investment, and risk information into concise, compelling executive narratives for senior leaders that support decision making.
  • Partner with portfolio leadership to prepare materials for executive reviews, PI planning outcomes, portfolio health discussions, and strategic updates.
  • Facilitate resolution of risks, blockers, and competing priorities to improve decision velocity and delivery outcomes.
  • Establish planning frameworks and operational rhythms that improve transparency, accountability, and execution effectiveness.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and multi-year work efforts that align with organizational priorities and business outcomes.
  • Monitor portfolio health, identify emerging risks, and recommend actions that optimize investment performance and value delivery.
  • Negotiate priorities, trade-offs, and execution approaches across business and technology partners.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 8 years of experience in portfolio management, program management, strategic execution, business operations, or related leadership roles.
  • 10 years of Property & Casualty experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Expert Experience facilitating planning activities, managing dependencies, and driving execution across multiple teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing executive-facing materials, portfolio updates, and strategic summaries.
  • Advanced knowledge of portfolio, program, and project management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience building or managing portfolio intelligence solutions, dashboards, reporting frameworks, or operational analytics.
  • Experience designing automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reporting, planning, or governance processes.
  • Applied experience with AI, generative AI, agentic workflows, or intelligent automation capabilities.
  • SAFe, Agile Release Train, PI Planning, or enterprise agile transformation experience.
  • Experience preparing executive-level presentations, strategic business reviews, and leadership communications.
  • Experience working within large-scale transformation or innovation portfolios.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in portfolio management, program management, strategic execution, business operations, or related leadership roles.
  • 10+ years of Property & Casualty experience.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience preparing executive-facing materials, portfolio updates, and strategic summaries.

Pay

$127,310 - $243,340

Schedule

Flexible work environment requiring an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Tampa, FL, or Chesapeake, VA.
