Portfolio Controller - Private Equity Advisory

For our client, a leader in the Business Services space, we are seeking a Portfolio Controller to join their Private Equity Advisory team. This role will strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes that guide business decisions.

About the role

You will partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to improve planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and scalable financial operations within a Business Services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in developing efficient monthly accounting close processes
  • Assist with cash to accrual conversions and prepare supporting schedules
  • Validate asset existence and prepare related roll forwards
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany and inventory
  • Contribute to accounting compliance and prepare financial statements and internal control policies
  • Help clients in budget preparation and management reporting
  • Guide firms through cloud-based finance system implementation
  • Liaise with IT to integrate financial systems post-acquisition

Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years of controllership experience in Private Equity-backed companies, preferably in Manufacturing/Distribution, Software SAAS, or Healthcare
  • Experience managing billing functions in high-volume, PE-backed environments
  • Familiarity with accounting/finance systems like NetSuite, MS Dynamics, QuickBooks, or other ERPs
  • Experience with buy and build investment strategies or roll-ups is advantageous
  • Proficient with data analytics tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, or Python
  • Ability to responsibly leverage AI tools for productivity enhancements
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and resolving complex project issues

Pay

$110,000 – $130,000 annually
