SANTA FE BMW, part of Group 1 Automotive—a Fortune 250 leader in global automotive retail—is seeking a qualified Porter/Service Assistant to join our team. Group 1 operates over 250 dealerships and collision centers across the U.S. and U.K., delivering a fully integrated automotive experience that includes vehicle sales, financing, aftersales service, and digital retail solutions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness in the shop and of shop equipment, including:
- Changing mop buckets at least daily and checking for excessive dirt throughout the day
- Regularly checking with technicians to address specific needs
- Ensuring basic tasks (mopping, trash removal, oil room maintenance, cleaning tire/wheel/alignment machines) are completed before asking technicians for additional requests
- Cleaning fluid spills, dirt, or trash on shop floors immediately
- Preventing accumulation of used tires around the tire machine
- Removing scrap metal as needed
- Confirming with technicians before discarding parts or boxes (e.g., warranty parts)
- Putting away special tools and cleaning the tool room
- Maintain cleanliness of the service department area
- Create key tags and move customer cars out of the service drive
- Support service advisors with greeting and write-ups as needed
- Check with advisors regularly to provide valet service or drive cars for quality control
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of showroom bathrooms (5–10 times daily)
- Assist the sales department and finance team as needed
- Perform other assigned tasks (e.g., quality control, lunch runs, fueling, bank deposits)
- Manage loaner vehicles:
- Park loaners by the back fence
- Ensure loaners have at least ¼ tank of fuel and are presentable for reuse
- Record mileage and fuel level on a sticky note attached to the key tag
- Arrange for detailing if the vehicle is dirty
- Maintain the dealership lot:
- Walk the lot to ensure vehicles are properly placed and aligned
- Remove trash or debris blown around the lot
- Check that sales vehicles have proper plate frames and plates
- Clean up cardboard or debris around trash bins and arrange for recycling pickup if needed
- Assist with processing purchase orders from vendors in CDK
- Complete daily deposits
Requirements
- Ability to operate both standard and automatic vehicles
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license in the state of employment and a clean driving record
All applicants must pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, motor vehicle records (MVR), and drug testing.
