Responsibilities
- Aid the Superintendent in any repair tasks as needed.
- Perform light electronic repairs on appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc.
- Carry out groundwork tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning windows, etc., regularly and as necessary.
- Assist with additional duties as directed.
- Paint walls, perform some carpentry tasks like wall board repair (patching, spackling, sanding), and handle floor maintenance (stripping, sealing, waxing).
- Participate in unit clean-up and undertake some plumbing tasks, including the replacement of faucets, toilets, etc.
- Must be able to operate a plumber’s snake.
- Conduct snow removal as assigned.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Superintendent.
- One to two years of building maintenance experience.
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
