Population Health Analyst - Financial Operations - CIN * Days ( M-F) -24hrs/wk

Requisition #: req12597 Shift: Days FTE status: 0.6 On-call: No Weekends: No General Purpose Of Job The Population Health Analyst-Financial Operations will serve in a bifurcated role, providing both data analytics and financial oversight to UM Health Regional Population Health and its Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs). This role will be responsible for the research, operational/analytical support, and data management of the various programs linked to payer expectations. In addition to data analytics, this role is responsible for ensuring the success of the financial operations of U-M Health Regional Population Health, including CIN related activities. The Analyst partners with Regional Population Health Leadership, articulating financial strategies and monitoring long-term business plans, while ultimately supporting the leadership team through financial oversight of departments, programs, and initiatives. Knowledge, Skills And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a Project Management related field.Minimum of 1 (one) year of previous healthcare experience, in which one or more of the following occurred:Demonstrated high competency in the execution of multiple large projectsDemonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership, with strong abilities in relationship managementGained experience in managing resources to meet goals across multiple projectsGained experience in leading multidiscipline, high-performance work teams/groupsDemonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.Professional experience in finance or accounting preferred.Experience working in a program management office (PMO) using project and portfolio management tools is preferred.Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point required. Other software includes Visio, Enterprise Project Server, SharePoint.Intermediate understanding of financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cashflow).General public speaking, listening, oral, and written skills.Ability to start the process of gaining an understanding of how Tableau, sg2, McKesson MFM, Business Objects, and EPSI works.Ability to travel frequently within a 60-mile radius. Essential Duties Provide primary oversight for Regional Population Health and its CINs related to accounting and finance activities, including timely month-end journal entries, monitoring of monthly financial statements, preparing necessary documentation for financial statements, and creating any needed finance/accounting policies.Prepares annual operating budgets for Regional Population Health and its CINs.Work with UM Health Accounting to monitor and provide recommendations on risk reserves levels for CINs, including by CIN contract.Monitor performance and build analytics focused on measuring financial performance in value-based contracts, understanding value-based contracting terms, metrics of success, and the cadence of reporting providedTracks value-based incentives across Regional Population Health and its CINs, monitoring performance by contract and by initiative or program.In partnership with Regional Population Health Leadership, develop, maintain, and operationalize a CIN incentive distribution model for value-based contract performance.Participate as a liaison to Michigan Medicine Managed Care Contracting, as Regional Population Health and its CINs move towards total cost of care arrangements and expanded value-based programming.In partnership with Michigan Medicine Managed Care Contracting, conduct annual and ad hoc fee schedule analyses.Serves as liaison to UM Health Regional Network leaders to provide data and reports for fiscal services related matters. Works closely with assigned liaison departments to review monthly financials, scorecards, benchmark sheets, and other data related to the department performance. Provide structure and organization to Regional Population Health partners by continuing to complete a gap analysis on what data is currently available to stakeholders, and what metrics still need to be hardwired.Provide training and education to staff related to the data available, how to access it, and what metrics might be of interest.Collaborate with leadership to develop project plans; drive results, and revise programming as appropriate.Serve as a point person for project communications, including coordinating conversations with various stakeholder groups, engaging in technical conversations that may include billing concerns or Epic workflows and/or reporting Work with UM Health Shared Services departments to request and/or update additional tools, data, and metrics on behalf of Regional Population Health.Compile and analyze data at the Federal, State, and local level (clinical/claims data) for the creation of internal dashboards and external scorecards for use in identifying opportunities for process improvementSupport Regional Population Health and CIN related Boards and Committees as needed
