About the role
The Population Health Administrator at UCI Health is responsible for driving substantial projects of large scope and high degrees of complexity. They will collaborate with the Population Health & Value Based Care team and organizational cross-functional teams to develop the infrastructure and processes needed to meet business needs within a complex academic health system.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, manage, and sustain an organization-wide strategy for maximizing quality and financial achievement in Population Health and Value Based Care initiatives.
- Collaborate with organizational cross-functional teams to develop the infrastructure and processes needed to meet business needs within a complex academic health system.
- Exercise good judgement and creativity while independently leading a portfolio of system-level performance improvement projects from project scope and design, process redesign, implementation testing, performance metric development and on-going management for sustainment.
- Oversee programs that aim to improve health outcomes and access for certain population groups.
- Lead effective teams and demonstrate expertise in the use of performance improvement methodologies/tools.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, and adhere to work deadlines.
- Provide support and assistance, inspire trust, and communicate effectively with physicians, managers, and high-level administrative staff.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications with emphasis on Powerpoint, Excel, and Visio.
- In-depth knowledge of Performance Improvement standards, Advance Payment Model/Value Based Care model requirements, tools, and techniques, including collection, validation, analysis, reporting of data, and use of performance and benchmark indicators.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with population health, health program/policy analysis, and evaluating and implementing population-based health programs.
- In-depth experience with Quality, population health, and/or value-based care.
- Highly driven and self-motivated while able to work as individual contributor or as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills to compile/present a compelling story or business case.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians, managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of performance improvement methodologies/tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effective teams.
- Demonstrated ability to be resourceful, innovative, and take initiative to identify and search for solutions.
- Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively analyze and interpret highly complex system reports and array, identify trends, problems and potential issues, and prepare and present plans in an actionable form.
- Maintain highest standards for confidentiality of information and professionalism.
- Analyzes and interprets highly complex data of broad scope and summarizes statistical findings. Develops corresponding reports, presentations, and action plans. Identifies information sources and oversees collection of data through a variety of mechanisms. Compares performance against benchmarks; provides proposals and plans to stakeholders to improve population health performance goals.
- Detail oriented with ability to also see big picture.
- Ability to think critically and apply sound judgment to proactively mitigate performance drift or barriers.
- Ability to prioritize and contribute to simultaneous projects and facilitate teamwork among project staff/participants.
