About the role

Restaurant Servers at South Seas will greet and serve guests in accordance with the resort’s standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, and sanitation, ensuring a gracious and professional experience. This role is based at our upbeat and casual Bayfront restaurant, Redfish Grill, Tarpon Bar, and Bayview Pool, which offer spectacular waterfront views of Pine Island Sound. Live music and weekly special events create a vibrant atmosphere for both guests and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct communication and hospitality procedures with all guests daily.
  • Attend pre-shifts with fellow staff and management for all restaurant operations.
  • Properly set all tables and stations; follow appropriate set-up checklist; take guest orders.
  • Serve all food and beverage items in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper treatment and storage of food and company equipment.
  • Complete daily shift operation report.
  • Communicate all special guest requests to the kitchen.
  • Detail every table and menu before each meal period.
  • Assist with bussing tables ("pre-bussing").
  • Understand and execute Restaurant BEO (Banquet Event Order) forms.
  • Possess thorough food, wine, and cocktail menu knowledge.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and warm hospitality image.
  • Follow associate schedule and work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • 6 months of experience with serving, basic bartending, or cashiering is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; motor vehicle background check will be completed.
  • Must be 18 years or older to serve/sell alcohol in the state of Florida.
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with state regulations; can be obtained through South Seas).
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with state regulations; can be obtained through South Seas).

Skills

  • Fluent in English; must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to comprehend reading materials, speak, read, and write English; other languages are valuable.
  • Strong multitasking skills; ability to handle multiple job functions at once.
  • Initiative to anticipate needs before they become necessary.
  • Works well in stressful, high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Maintains composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns or issues raised by coworkers and guests.
  • Teamwork is essential and critical in this role.
  • Impeccable standards of appearance and grooming.
  • Maintains proper associate uniform standards and slip-resistant, enclosed-toe footwear.

Working Conditions

  • Position requires standing, walking, bending, and stooping for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in different types of extreme weather, including high temperatures.
  • Required to work indoors and outside.

Schedule

Part-time, flexible schedule; may require working weekends and/or holidays.

Pay

$12.00 per hour plus tips.
