About the role
The Pool Maintenance Tech will ensure cleanliness and appropriate chemical standards are maintained for the assigned pool(s).
Responsibilities
- Properly performs daily tasks, and organizes & cleans aquatics area each day according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintains a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized work area.
- Checks chemical records and maintains pool chemicals to appropriate standards.
- Handles and resolves aquatics concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Works without constant direct supervision.
- Attends mandatory meetings.
- Sets a good example in promptness, respect, manners, honesty and caring for all members, program participants, and guests.
- Maintains a positive attitude and contributes toward a quality work environment.
- Assists in all areas of the Y operations as requested by management.
- Participates in Open Doors campaign.
- Exemplifies YMCA character values.
- Maintains positive relations at all times with members, participants, and co-workers.
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Attends/completes required abuse risk management training.
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
- Follows mandated reporting requirements.
- Adheres to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
- Ensures unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitors high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms).
Requirements
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
- Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision and also work as a member of a team.
- Ability to serve both members and Association staff, both external and internal customers.
- Must possess effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Requires a commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and handle stress.
- Current CPR, First Aid, & AED Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA).
- Must complete New Staff Orientation and Blood Borne Pathogen training within first 30-days of employment.
- Must complete CPO Certification within first 90-days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to speak two or more languages.
- CPO Certification.
- Maintenance or chemical handling experience.
