Pool & Landscape Architect / Designer

About the role

TotalScape Design is seeking a talented and experienced Pool & Landscape Architect / Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing complete outdoor living spaces, including swimming pools, pool decks, landscaping, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, driveways, and other exterior features.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed and visually appealing pool, landscape, and outdoor-living designs.
• Develop complete outdoor designs that may include pools, spas, pool decks, landscaping, artificial turf, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, lighting, walkways, driveways, and drainage considerations.
• Select materials, finishes, plants, colors, and outdoor features that complement the property.
• Produce realistic 3D renderings and professional client presentations using Vip3D by Structure Studios, Pool Studio, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar design software.
• Translate design concepts into clear visual presentations that effectively communicate the proposed outdoor space.
• Prepare accurate CAD drawings, site plans, layouts, elevations, sections, and construction details.
• Review property surveys, architectural plans, engineering plans, and client-provided documents.
• Confirm important measurements and identify potential design conflicts before plans are released for construction.
• Maintain organized project files, drawings, renderings, measurements, and design revisions.
• Complete material takeoffs and calculate approximate square footage, quantities, dimensions, and material requirements.
• Revise designs based on client feedback, site conditions, budget limitations, permitting requirements, and construction feasibility.
• Manage multiple projects and complete revisions within established deadlines.

Requirements

• Experience in pool design, landscape architecture, landscape design, exterior design, or residential outdoor-living design.
• Strong proficiency with Vip3D, Pool Studio, VizTerra, or similar 3D pool and landscape rendering software.
• Experience with AutoCAD or another professional CAD drafting program.
• Ability to create realistic, high-quality 3D renderings and professional client presentations.
• Experience preparing material takeoffs, quantity calculations, and area measurements.
• Ability to read and understand surveys, architectural drawings, engineering plans, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of pool layouts, hardscape, planting design, grading, drainage, outdoor structures, and residential construction.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate dimensions throughout the design process.
• Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Able to balance design creativity with budget, code, site, and construction limitations.
• Able to manage multiple projects and revisions while meeting established deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional training in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Drafting, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Previous experience working for a pool builder, landscape company, architecture firm, or outdoor design-build company.
• Experience designing luxury residential properties and complete backyard renovations.
• Knowledge of South Florida landscaping, outdoor materials, construction methods, and permitting requirements.
• Knowledge of plants commonly used in South Florida.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, or similar programs.
• Experience preparing construction-ready design packages.
