Pool for Part-time lecturer in Counseling

Duties of the Position

• To teach graduate level courses (e.g., Group Counseling, Substance Abuse and Dependence) within the Department of Counseling at Sonoma State University’s MA program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC), in line with the mission and objectives associated with the Department and the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track.

Required Qualifications

• Earned Doctorate in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited institution preferred or Masters in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution accepted.
• Eligibility for clinical licensure in California (MFT, PCC, or Licensed Psychologist).
• Clinical/counseling experience with a variety of populations and with different intervention strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level, preferably at the graduate level.
• Experience with courses related to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA program, for example: Group Counseling, Substance Abuse & Dependence, Clinical Supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise practicum and traineeship/internship students if considered for these courses.
• Ability to articulate a theoretical orientation about clinical mental health counseling.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multicultural populations.
• Ability to handle and approach students with delicate and difficult counseling issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate degree.
• Licensed as a mental health care provider.
• Teaching experience.
