Description

Join the MercyOne Family! We are seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team. This position involves comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders through polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and patient care and education. The Polysomnographic Technologist can perform duties typically assigned to a Polysomnographic Technician and may supervise other staff.

  • Gather and analyze patient information.
  • Analyze and verify documentation and physician orders.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic (CPAP, BIPAP) polysomnography, multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), multiple sleep efficiency test (MWT).
  • Download CPAP settings for all clinic visits and as directed by the physician.
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedures, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of all computerized sleep systems.
  • Score and generate polysomnography records and reports.

General Requirements

  • Certification by a nationally recognized certification board as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Licensed by the State of Iowa as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Successfully completed an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography, or successfully completed a one-year Polysomnography program from a state-licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist or Neurodiagnostic Tech track; must become Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) board eligible within 24 months of hire.
  • Maintain the RPSGT credential and State Licensure through educational activities as outlined by the BRPT and State of Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three months of hire.
  • Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three months of hire.

Schedule

Full-time, 36 hours per week
12-hour shifts;
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Shift: Nights, 6pm – 6:30am
