Responsibilities
- Gather and Analyze Patient Information - Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet specific patient needs, and determine final testing parameters.
- Test Preparation Procedures - Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
- Polysomnographic Procedures - Perform MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc., following procedural protocols and documenting observations and interventions.
- Polysomnographic Record Scoring - Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events, generate accurate reports.
- Service Management and Professional Issues - Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines, comply with ABSM Standards of Conduct.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program in polysomnography leading to an associate degree.
- Current certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Skills
- Proficiency in polysomnography techniques and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and under supervision.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
