Polysomnographic Technologist

About the role

Saratoga Hospital is part of the Albany Med Health System, committed to high-quality, compassionate care and community health. The Polysomnographic Technologist plays a crucial role in evaluating and treating sleep disorders through polysomnography and related services.

Responsibilities

• Gather and Analyze Patient Information - Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet specific patient needs, and determine final testing parameters.
• Test Preparation Procedures - Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
• Polysomnographic Procedures - Perform MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc., following procedural protocols and documenting observations and interventions.
• Polysomnographic Record Scoring - Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events, generate accurate reports.
• Service Management and Professional Issues - Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines, comply with ABSM Standards of Conduct.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited educational program in polysomnography leading to an associate degree.
• Current certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Skills

• Proficiency in polysomnography techniques and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and under supervision.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Pay

$27.20-$43.12/hr based on experience and qualifications.
