Polysomnographic Technologist
About the role
The Polysomnograph Technician performs standard and complex polysomnographic recordings and monitors physiological phenomena throughout such procedures. Special procedures such as multiple sleep latency testing are also performed. Ensures cleanliness, appearance and safety of physical plant and reports issues with the appropriate department as well as supervisor. Ensures proper functioning of equipment. Provides routine cleaning of equipment after each use. Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies. Scores polysomnogram/MSLT accurately; provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation. Maintains records, reports, log books as required. Performs other duties of the department as assigned.
Qualifications
- Certified Registered or Licensed Respiratory Therapist
- Registered Polysomnographic Technician
- BLS through the American Heart Association
- One to three years previous patient care or health-related experience
Essential Functions
- Performs standard and complex polysomnographic recordings and monitors physiological phenomena throughout such procedures.
- Administers oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure and employs ventilatory assist devices in accordance with established protocols.
- Special procedures such as multiple sleep latency testing are also performed.
- Safeguards the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the physical plant and reports issues with the appropriate department as well as supervisor.
- Ensures proper functioning of equipment.
- Provides routine cleaning of equipment after each use.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies.
- Scores polysomnogram/MSLT accurately; provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation.
- Maintains records, reports, log books as required.
- Performs other duties of the department as assigned.
Pay & Benefits
The pay range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey is $37.79 per hour. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
